A list of several things the insurance adjuster will not tell you about your car accident case.

If you’ve been in an accident, and the insurance adjuster for the person who hit you is calling you, be wary of anything they ask of you. They may be very nice on the phone, and if you’re like me, we have the natural tendency to be nice to those who sound nice to us. Just remember, that adjuster is just doing their job. And that job is to minimize or eliminate any compensation (payment) to you.

The adjuster won’t tell you that if someone hits you, and you only suffer a sore neck, or back, or stiffness in either, that you should (or may) receive a monetary settlement for that. Even if you only feel this pain when you exert yourself.

They won’t tell you that, even though they may be the nicest person you have ever met (they may be), that if you say something potentially damaging to your claim, they will use it against you.

They won’t tell you that you do not need to give a recorded statement. You are under no obligation to give the a 3rd party insurance adjuster a recorded statement. Absolutely no good can come out of one, so don’t give one.

Those are just a few of the things the adjuster will not tell you. And who can blame them, they are not there to maximize your monetary settlement, they are there to pay you as little as they can. So think twice, the next time the adjuster calls you.
